7 weeks in to BMT.

I must say this 7 weeks has passed rather quick without me actually noticing it.

The 9 week cycle is rather a short period for typical recruit to have a really defining moment if without much significant accomplishments.

Mine you ask? Its has definitely got to be the moment when the live grenade thrown out from my hand, exploded.

Nothing brings more fear than actually holding onto instruments that brings death.

Be it BTP or HG, the very moment when I receive a life ammunition, its a mixture of feelings.

With every bullet shot, I'm training myself to be a better soldier. At the same time, I'm training myself to be ready to kill enemies with a basic set of necessary skills.

I believe the same theory applies for most of my fellow recruits, or even sergeants.

Younger generations who has yet to serve their time in protecting the nation probably has an opposite view though.

Kids as young as 7 years old, playing games like blackshot (equivalent to counter strike) boasting about their skills, how much kills they get and how their enemies got killed with confidence.

I remember asking my cousin a few years back,

"What do you think if you actually live like a soldier in counter strike and kill as much people as you did in the game?"

" I'll just aim for all the headshots with my awp."

Its the very arrogance and ignorance that shocks me thinking back about it now.

Fair enough, its a game you say.

Will they still be saying the same thing after actually firing a live round? Or rather, after they actually kill somebody with that life round?

I'm sure I wont, at least for now.

HG was probably the last time I'll be touching live rounds throughout my BMT.

A day that started with a SPG and ended with a SFG.

I still remember how everybody goes "wowwww, anti-personnel hand grenade"

Cool name with a deadly purpose.

When I felt the shockwave produced by the exploding grenade, I truly felt the devastation that human is capable of.

A metallic ball of whatever, that explodes with such force. I can't imagine it landing in front of me.

Of course, I'm not as pessimistic as I sound in this essay. These are just thoughts that comes across me once in awhile.

There are still excitement in these activities because it is our first time feeling the recoil of the SAR21 to experiencing the shockwave by the block 3 charge.

When the time calls for me to protect Singapore, I will muster my courage and determination to stand up and fight for my country.

First bookout after 17 days of confinement

Yesterday marks my first bookout in my entire military life.

The past 17 days has been relatively tough to a small extend. Some parts were more adjustable than others.

I'm not obligated to talk much about what I did. So I'll just give a summary.

Firstly the daily lights out and reveille timing. 1030 is a pretty early lights out time for most of us as I presume most of us slept later than that for the past half a year after graduation.
It was hard to adjust to for the first few nights only, because we are dead beat after all the activities that took place on that particular day.

Second is the meal times. For most of us, 1 hour is just enough for us to finish our meals. In fact from polytechnic period onwards we were all having the same 1 hour meal time despite whether you're in polytechnic or working.
Well that isnt the case for us.
We were given 20 minutes for meal times and that includes queuing up. Sometimes there are just so much people queuing for food that we practically spent 10-15 minutes queuing for food. Do the math and you should know how much time on average we are using for consumption alone.
That's the hardest part to adapt to. Most of us, in fact 90% of us failed to consume what was given to us for the first few days.
Well this is part of our military life, we have no choice but to get used to it and finish ASAP.

Third is the bathing. Happiest moment for us recruits after a long day training under the blazing sun, with sweat all over our body. Water is cold at times, especially during the morning in 5am. You can hear people giving our shivering sounds as soon as the turn on the tap. For me, I can stand the cold because of 2 reasons. I have no choice and I start by washing my head first to let me body get used to the water temperature.

Fourth, admin time, or the so call time for ourselves to do what we want.
That includes calling parents, bathing, preparing stuffs for the next day, etc.
It's really precious I would say. Because you have so much things to do, you have to prioritize them. Say, I won't be washing my clothes everyday.

Lastly is respecting ranks. Well I'm in ncc before, so I know about respecting ranks. Obviously there are people in your coy who doesn't respect this giving my platoon a bad name. It's ok for me though, because this is the phase where boys become men. It's a necessary journey.

All in all, experience for the past 17 days has been relatively good with little hiccups here and there. Life sucks as we know it.

ELLO PEOPLE

I hardly have any topic in mind to post actually.

I left my job 2 days ago.

Because the contract was up!

Well, I'm quite happy now because I can finally have a month of time for myself before I start protecting this country.

This month I will spend it on:

Yes, EXERCISING!

Well, for the past good 2 months and 3 weeks, I haven't been doing it.

I can feel my muscle shrinking.

10 pullups is like, so near yet so far.

I haven't tried doing any, so I cant tell how much can I do now.

But the most important thingthat I'll need to improve on is my:

People who knows me well should know that running has always been my killer in napfa test.

Amazing isnt it?

A guy with such long legs, has a hard time with 2.4.

But he has no problem with upper body exercises.

Well not to boast or what :

Since I started noticing my body size is nearer to the lean side, I started doing more upper body exercises than lower.

That explains why I'm having a hard time with 2.4

Hopefully throughout this month, I'll be able to get my 2.4 back to near 1040.

Better than failing.

Im a guy who lives (partly) for gaming.

This has been part of me since young when I started playing those brick games.

This game is so fucking retro (80s and 90s) that some of you may not even seen it before.

But I can't deny the fact that I'm getting old.

Leveling up games just isn't my type anymore.

I find them just a waste of my time, as in seriously, wasting time in your real life to improve the skill and level of some fake character you rear in a virtual reality.

Complete utter bullshit.

I'm more attracted to story based games now.

They have interesting stories and the end when they should end.

Nothing such as who is higher in level, because its a story based game.

Finally this blog has come to a state of, solitary.

Wohhhhh!!!!!!
My last post was freaking 1 month plus ago!
Well reason being I've started working full time as an assembly engineer.

The time is just not exactly Internet-time friendly.
So everyday when I reach home imma just sit on my couch and watch tv with my bowl full of food on one hand and a spoon on the other.

I'll try to spend some quality time with my family rather than wasting it away on the digital world.

Saturday and Sunday is my only days of freedom and enjoyment.
Saturday is the best. Whereas Sunday is only enjoyable for the first half of the day.
The rest of the day I'll be like, fuck it's Monday again.

To begin with, I have absolutely no issues with cosplay.

Its a form of activity.

I deem it as a creative hobby, so I'm more than glad to accept it.

For me, I judge cosplays base on whether its for fun(disruptive purposes) or for real(really wanna be that character)

Let me first begin with school.

I've unofficially graduated!

In the mean time I'm waiting for my final semester results.

March 22.

Throughout these 3 years, there were ups and downs, (duh, who dont have?)

Let me talk about the "Downs" first.

Downs -1

Like many people suggested, I've picked the wrong course.

I admit it.

Instead of design, which I failed to recognize it was my main interest earlier, I picked engineering.

But hey, I sailed though these 3 years smoothly.

Im not detesting engineering, rather, Im not the best cut for it.

Neither am I boasting Im the best cut for design, just that my interest in design weighs higher than engineering.

Downs-2

Young juniors, friends,strangers who are entering polytechnic and are still uncertain of your future, never listen to this crap :

"Poly very easy to pass, just go to lessons and pass your exams."

I allowed to myself slip into this trap, thinking that

"Wow! Seriously? Meh, luckily I picked polytechnic instead of JC" ( I couldnt enter JC actually hahaha)

The thing about tertiary education is that

" Passing is not enough, period "

How much is passing? Just get a Pass, and you pass.

How much weightage is a pass compared to a numerical GPA score?

Polytechnic (Diploma)

Grading

AD: Distinction (Top 5% score in the subject for the cohort)
A: Excellent (>=80%)
B+: Very good (75%-79%)
B: Good (70%-74%)
C+: Above average (65%-69%)
C: Average (60%-64%)

Look at how pathetic the score is.

You have failed theoretically (Primary and secondary school deem 50 percent as passing) and morally strictly speaking.

Listen up, 3.8, this is between A and B+, but is more closer to A.

During my first year first semester, I totally allowed myself to rot, decompose, wasting parents money.

I score a shitty score of 2.6.

Which is like between the score of a C+ and a B, in other words, a B-.

It was a hard hit, because I didnt know how to calculate gpa, neither was I obliged to.

Laziness, I totally took it to a whole new level for myself.

At the start of the 2nd semester, I vowed to get at least 3.3.

Working hard, again I was hit, hard.

I didnt know what went wrong.

And then, the up came....... I'll continue it on the "UPs" section.

Downs-3 ( For you Peeps, you know who you are )

I didnt get myself a girl.

Know what, this isnt exactly a down for me, but the people worrying for me.

Unlike secondary school, polytechnic is a bigger community.

Instead of facing the same 20 faces for 4 years, you face hundreds of faces for 3 years.

GOOD DEAL BAB...I mean HONEY.

Im not entirely interested in getting a girl in poly.
I wont go the extra mile chasing a girl.
Hey I gotta study, yea I admit I cant multi-task well with a girl on 1 hand and homework on the other.

Furthermore, engineering.
Come on its a male dominant course.
A class out of 20, the most you'll see is maybe 5 girls.

However, courses which includes words like "Resorts" "Management".
Thats a different story.
THEY ATTRACT A SHITLOAD OF GIRLS, THEY DO.

Until now Im still laughing hard at girls who scream

Are you expecting an engineering school to offer business course or at least, business majored course?
(If my infomation is correct, the course Im referring to was shutdown or changed because many people complained about the misconceptions of the course, because of the name.)

Alright I've off topic enough.

So because I've landed myself in such a course, naturally I'm not surrounded with girls, literally.

Either way, not matter what I write, the conclusion is, I didnt get a girlfriend.

No doubt about the downs that tertiary education gave me, it has taught me many things.

Whether school related or social related.

I wasnt sure of my future while I was in secondary school, because the government was in control of my education.

Reaching tertiary was like the new chapter with new abilities as well as options.

Responsibility, yes thats the word.

I was responsible for my future the moment I stepped out of secondary school.

Choosing the right course ( I failed ) , scoring the best score ( I failed too,4.0 duh, its not easy ok).

Camps and services

This played a major part in my tertiary life too.

Study hard, must play hard too you know.

I wont say I've been to many camps, I've actually only been on 2 camps.

Rock climbers and ICE.

Camp cheers, games, and nightwalk.

Man night walk, who can forget that.

The walk where Danial trashed my slipper because of the 'ghost' in the toilet.

hahahahahahaha!

With reference to the downs, I've mentioned that Im enrolled in a male dominant course.

My camp leader, Glenda, was actually the closest I came in contact with throughout my 3 years, IN POLY.

DUH. I sound like an epic failure.

It came to a point where I had a crush on her.

But ah well, never mind about that, its the past.

SPACERS

This is the committee that I will never regret joining.

With every event, we are closer.

I had my group in escapade, named after me, how cool is that?

HAHAHAHA.

Ups-2

I was transfered into another class at the start of year 2.

The moment I joined this class, I realized why it was different from my previous one.

Competitive.

Its the kind of environment that is especially important into order to strive for higher achievement.

You know where you stand and you wanna improve yourself.

You know there are strength comparisons, and therefore you dont want to end up being the 'lower level" as I called it.

After joining this class, my grades shot up, magically.

Nah just kidding.

But really, my grade improved all the way to 3.5-3.6 every semester, which I am contended with.

If I were to get a 4.0 for my current semester, this means my final gpa will reach,

3.5.

Yay.

You may think, hey you mentioned your engineering requires about 3.8 gpa, but you're only getting a 3.5, and you're telling me you're contended?

Well, this brings me to my next up.

Up-3

Realizing I want design not engineering!

Joining worldskills.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my WSS mentor, TPM.

Because of him, I know I dont wanna end up being like him.

I joined WSS without knowing.

I joined without any knowledge on what it is about.

Therefore, I was lacking the motivation for the first half of the entire journey.

Theres a thing about strict and stern mentor.

严师出高徒 they call it.

I call it attitude problem, seriously.

Bad attitude people never impress me.

To me, it only works on certain people, not all.

Having a mentor who always inflicts fear into you.

How the heck can you learn in peace?

Whatever you do, you will always be afraid you are doing the wrong thing.

Because whether its the right or wrong, you will always get reprimanded, just that it gets worst when you do it wrong.

The term paranoid, 疑神疑鬼.

Throughout the whole wss experience, he constantly injects us with propaganda.

"Must be careful of this group, that group, secretly doing this, doing that"

Because we are group in pairs, he always makes remarks that will cause internal conflicts between groups with constant comparisons.

At first what I told myself was, I can use this cert along with my gpa for an engineering course.

After suffering for approximately 1 year, the competition finally came and went.

He made me realize, I will leave this cert aside and go for my interest.

Im not a fan of real time competitions.

Neither am I a fan of playing sly and strategic during competitions, except during sports.

So dont, dont even try to intimidate me with all those nonsense.

I guess thats all I have to say for this post.

Wait for my final semester results and I'll update a new post soon after.

What to do when you are bitten by a kid

Now, I’m sure many of you have encountered little shits in supermarkets. Little kids running about and knocking things over, being rude, walking all over their parents, you know the kind. But the worst are the biters. Yes, those little cunts that feel it is okay to bite you whenever they feel like it.

Okay, here’s the best part. A biter got me today when I was grocery stopping. He broke the Fscking skin, too. This was when the gears started turning, the moment I saw a tiny sprickle of blood on the little shit’s teeth as he was grinning at me like the little cunt he is. I made my eyes get wide, and started screaming “SHIT! SHIT!.” Now, my good friend, Tom we’ll call him, was there too, and he instantly picked up on it. He started shouting “FSCK! MAYBE HE DIDN’T GET IT! FSCK!.” By now, the kid is scared shitless and starts crying, and instantly, Mizz Mom appears out of nowhere and starts getting pissy at us for yelling at her kid.

Here’s the kicker, I look her straight in the eye and say, “Ma'am, get your son tested as soon as possible, he just bit me and I’m… I’m FSCKING HIV POSITIVE.”
And now there is silence. Not a peep in the entire store. The brat knows he just fscked up big time because his mom isn’t defending his ass. She just stares at me wide eyed. I walk away from them, buy my shit from the wide eyed cashier, all the while blood is dripping from my calf, making a nice little trail on the floor. And, just s we leave, we start to hear the mother sobbing. Sobbing like the cunt she is.
I have never felt any more satisfaction than the moment I heard that sob.

I've finally submitted my application to NTU.

For the first time, I saw my future school, ADM, if I'm get in, that is.

I'm so looking forward to it.

Besides that, I've been "Chionging" my logbook, which was supposedly due last last week.

Other than that, again school work, I've been helping out with the dismantling of the trimming machine.

Other than that, its a low profile last week.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!
I know I know, this was meant to be said like 1 week ago.

So how did your celebrations went?

CNY EVE : Last minute spring cleaning of the entire house + reunion dinner

Oh oh this is like the most tiring day of the whole CNY.

Everything has to be done within 24 pior to CNY itself.

Well something funny happened during our reunion dinner,

During the Lou Hei (撈魚生), we said many funny things like:

很多工作啊！

Minutes later after the reunion dinner, we really struck 4D.

First day of CNY

Similar to every year, we don't visit people nor does people visit us on the first day.
So we went to watch "Its a great great world"

Its really a funny and heart warming movie.
Especially the last story, the part where they enjoy to the max during jap invasion.
People with different dialects relate to each other although they don't quite understand each other.

I doubt it would be the same for the J Neo's movie.

2ND DAY OF CNY

Hoho, this is officially the red packet day.
The day where young ones becomes rich for the day, the old ones, give money.

Went house visiting, and got lots and lots of ang paos.

3RD DAY OF CNY
Well I dunno if its the same for the rest of you, when the 2nd day is over, its as if CNY celebration is over for me.

Starting from the 3rd day, it would be going out with friends, watch tv @ home, slack under the void deck, or sleep in the drain.

For me I went to seoul garden with friends and my sister went to KL with her friends.

BLAH BLAH, 4TH DAY

This is the rest day, before school reopen.
REST, YOU GET IT? REST.
Well not exactly, more like slack.
So you rot at home watching prawns swimming via your computer, or ray william johnson go GEZZUS!

Well, back to school, Im pushing the last stretch of 1 month before I graduate.
Pushing the F1 simulator project and getting all the design work done, so that the next batch can assemble the project in peace easily.

In the mean time, I'm also working hard to my goal, entering Nxx university.
Working hard to churn out pieces for my portfolio as well as the various required materials for submission.

Also, my Napfa test!
Argh, this is the most hellish part of the 1 month before I graduate.
I'm so close to passing my 2.4 everytime. As in, getting silver.

Hopefully this monday, I'll be able to pass.

As promised, here my post on

"How graphic designers does their work, or at least how semcrew does it, worst come to worst, how Garry does it"

After receiving a assignment and understanding the clients's need (during work)

After having a sudden burst of inspiration,

When it comes to digital art, there are so many types of it.

You have:

Manipulation

Typography

Vector arts

Digital painting

ETC

You can have a combination of types.

So basically theres no definite approach to what you want to achieve.

So......

Before going into design, there are a few things we need to decide before continuing.

What kind of style we want it to have.

What end result are we expecting from it.

How long do we give ourselves to produce the initial design concept. ( no point doing something for a long time when you're gonna abandon it in the end. )

In this case, I'll do a vector art!

Perhaps some grunge look,

Some guy dancing?

Energetic.

I give myself 1hour for concept

Lets being work.

Do a google search of vector art, and you get a hang of what vector kindda looks like:

Lesson X - Learn and understand what you're dealing with

Basically,

1: You throw in tons of shapes, swirls, twirls

2: The edges are very distinct and precise.

3: Colours are very simple, highlight and tonning.

4: Silhouettes/ 1/2 silhouette. They are the core of the design.

Flipping through my stock album, I found a photo quite interesting.

Look at that!

Energetic! Jumping!

Aside from his facial expressions, his body language shows strength, hype, youth.

We shall start with picture.

1: Get the silhouette of his body!

Simple enough, and you'll get this.

Next!

Choose your brushes, download em, draw em, as you please.

THEN THROW THEM ALL IN!

Ok not exactly throw.

Vector arts looks kindda messy.

So you have to actually give it alot of swirls, twirls, shapes.

They have no exactly meaning, but thats how it looks good isnt it?

Vector inputs comes in many forms.

Swirls and circles are softer.

There are also sharp lines, flowery vectors, butterflies, you name it you get it.

This doesnt look right, so lets fill in the background colour!

Too bright, so lets change to a darker one and add in a signature.

Wala, a vector of a man jumping with a dancing stance.

The semcrew does not have a fixed way of designing.

We go by feel.

If it doesnt feel right, we modify it until it feel better.

The process is tedious, but worth the time.

I havent been photoshopping for like, a month.

So pardon the end result if you're dissapointed.

Last year, last semester, last chance

This is our last year, last semester.

I've been telling people around me : This last semester is a very F-ed up one.

Any problem at school/work, I call it a challenge.

And any problem at relationships, I call it a problem.

It appears that many of my friends are having a problem.

For god knows what reason, it all happens on this last semester.

Its rather interesting actually, because it has been 3 years since I last witness things like these.

No Im not poking fun don't worry.

I was flipping through our old album to reminisce.

We both agreed that teen relationships never last.

And neither of us has started a new one since.

Has it gotten into us?

Because I still see myself as a teen and I fear the same thing would happen again.

Perhaps Im not trying hard enough, or rather I'm not even trying.

Excuses, I create them.

Somehow, because of that, I was able to avoid complicated human relations throughout my 2 and 3/4 years in poly.

Looking at my friends, I admire their courage for the love they are pursuing.

Look at where I am, stuck, in our words.

To be honest, Im already lacking the first criteria to start with,

Someone I have a crush on.

ANYWAY, I pretty much enjoy single life.

I wouldn't mind adding in a partner in my life, but Im contended with being single for the moment.

Another day back in the studio.

Before starting work, you need to start up your computer.

A normal win7 logon screen sucks.

Thats why we need to look at boxxy for 10 seconds.

After arriving at your desktop, you look at your own artwork for another round of motivation and inspiration.

I prefer cleaner desktop because a messy one messes up my mind, irritates me.

Just when you are about to start work, you need to start up mousepath.

Mousepath is a program that records your mouse movements throughout the whole session.

In the end of a fruitful designing session, you'll get to see how your mouse move.

Lines indicate movements, while dots represents inactive mouse movements( bigger dot means longer inactivity)

This is perhaps the first time I'm planning my route ahead for myself.

For the past 18 years I've been heeding my parents/relatives advices.

Now, I do the planning.

This post may not be fun to read, because its just analysis of schools,gpas,requirements related to me.

So i'm guessing you guys will stop reading half way and proceed to researching your own.

Its just house, not a techno nor screaming etc.

Let me first start of by calculating gpa.

My current cumulative gpa is 3.4

So lets do a worst case and best case scenario.

Worst case :

I scored very badly and I get 1.0 term gpa.

I score an estimation of +-3.0 gpa.

Best case :

I scored very well and I get a 4.0 gpa.

I score an estimation of +-3.5 gpa.

So we have a rough idea of how I'm gonna land.

Land normal and average, or lane above average.

+0.1 is, wow, small, but significant.

With that, lets move on to Grade Profiles.

I picked NUS's and NTU's grade profile for a stand.

Lets take a peek at their grade profile.

The rough idea of the 10th percentile means, 10% of the students score below that gpa, while 90% of students score above that gpa.

While 90th percentile means 90% of the students score below that gpa, while 10% above it.

Give yourself some time to digest this, cause I took a while to understand it too.

From observation, I realized.

I couldn't qualify for NUS.

Like totally.

In terms of gpa.

With much respect, their standard is just too damn high!

Lets move on to NTU.

I'm only looking at 2 courses.

10th percentile states 3.6.

Which means my chances is low.

Give the fact that they have 487 total intakes

Dunno if i'm doing the math correctly, 48.7 people, which I will round down to 48 people, scored below 3.6

They may be around, 3.5+-

They may score distinctions more than me.

They may have a nicer O level score than me.

They may have a more wonderful CCA grading than me.

Risky..... hm.......

This is where I wanna be. Been hoping to be.

But theres one problem. Some courses requires diploma related to it.

I do not have an art related diploma. But rather an engineering one.

 Conceptual and Visual Problem Solving. Using visual elements and symbols, create a composition that visually describes a verbal metaphor.

 Design Ability. Using a set of defined elements – spatial, conceptual structural, and possible even auditory stimuli, design a 3D form or spatial environment that satisfies the stated design brief.

 Narrative and Storytelling. Using a set of images write a story in a maximum of 3 paragraphs.

 Drawing and Visualization. Create a drawing of a specific object, demonstrating your skill in handling pencil or pen on paper.

So these are the requirements I have to fulfill, before I get submit my application to them.

Well this is the 2nd week of school!

Well, for mine, I have to say,

So I failed to qualify in the wss and I'm currently attached to MDC for this semester.

Sad? Not @ all honestly.

I'm part of the R&D team, along with CK and ZH.

We work along with our lecturer and supervisor in R&D.

Needless to say, our work are project by project basis.

Currently we have, 3 projects waiting for completion.

1 - Chemical powder dispenser

2 - Chemical powder oven

3 - F1 simulator

I won't go into the details of each project though.

You might be wondering, why am I not sad that I didn't qualify in wss?

Well, like I mentioned before, its not the kind of life I want.

Competition, competition, competition.

Win, win, win, cannot lose, cannot lose.

Must get medal, must get cert, must win.

Argh, fcuk this shit.

Secondly, although this is only the 2nd week in MDC, I learned much more than I could in that wss thing.

I learned solidworks, and I'm going to learn ProE soon.

These are advance CAD softwares besides Autocad.

Take a look @ the jobsearch, 8 out of 10 companies requires their potential employees to have knowledge in one of these 2 programs.

I don't see how I can learn them if I do qualify in wss.

As a matter of fact, I don't see how a certificate can help me in getting a job I want without skills in other areas, except that 5 stations.

"I am rank X in wss, this is my cert"

"What programs are you proficient in?"

"None, except autocad"

Versus

"What programs are you proficient in?"

"I am able to work well with autocad, solidworks, proe, catia, xxxxxx"

"I also did a couple of projects like xxx, yyy, zzz (shows portfolio)"

Which do you think is better?

I think the answer is obvious.

Thirdly, the environment is encouraging.

I can't stress this enough.

The place where you work @ has to boost your morale rather than reducing it.

Having a stern advisor with a bad attitude goes no where unless you are really self-motivating under any circumstances.

Having a fun and caring advisor not only foster your relationship with him/her, but also your passion for your work.

Fun doesn't mean don't do work, but play.

Fun means working and learning at the same time in a interesting manner.

The theory goes for children, so why can't it go for adults too?

The list goes on.

I must state that this post is rather bias because I'm the one talking.

If you dislike a particular thing, you have 1001 reasons for it.

So the result was out today.

Not totally out, but we kinda knew the ending to it....

This post is a small confession about myself, not others.

I scored a 16, and I ended up in this course.

Why? Many people ask.

Well firstly, I love D&T when I was in secondary school, but not art. This led me to an illusion whereby I thought I was proficient in hands on stuffs, preferably, engineering.

When I was secondary 3, I was introduced to photography and digital imaging. I came to realize how fascinating it was. I wanted to follow up on it, and develop a career on it.

But, there was this invisible-barrier.

Something telling me this was just, a dream.

Given the fact that my father is an engineer, I wanted to follow in his foot-steps, so I'll be able to learn from him, help him in his business.

Perhaps I watched too much drama, led me thinking that I shouldn't let his business go to waste just because I want to follow my interest.

Like those typical drama where the parents are old and wishing their children to take over, but the children just refuse.

I didn't want that to happen, onto me.

During the period of choosing course, my mom encouraged me to take up an engineering course, which pays well.

Out of all engineering course, I tried my best to find a suitable course that doesn't limit my knowledge onto a single type of engineering. Because I still wasn't sure of what I want to become when I grow up.

So I picked this course.

While all this is happening, I was actively participating in design events and works. I develop a passion for it.

It feels much stronger than my passion in technical.

The feel of wanting to do something out of the blue, even when it doesn't benefit you.

-I'll get a inspiration all of a sudden, and will have the urge of working on it straight away. Wasting away my sleep just to complete it.

The sense of satisfaction in you when your clients accept your work.

- When they accept my work, I knew I satisfy their needs. They recognize my work. They want it.

Even if it requires me to redo many times.

The sense of belonging when I'm in a studio.

-Its more than a studio crew, its like a family. We work, have fun. All towards a common goal, wanting to present the best for the client.

However all these was insignificant to me, because I was pursuing in a different area.

Until, I registered for this competition that I realize I was wrong.

I'm weak in logic. And thats the point where I lack to be successful.

Talk about programming, and my brain will automatically lag.

I can't process logic fast enough and accurate enough.

Just because I scored first in my secondary school in D&T, I assumed I was better in engineering.

Assumption is the mother of all failure.

I assumed the life of an engineer would be smooth sailing for me given that I have that natural ability, even though I'm not exactly enthusiastic in it.

Like what Jamal said,

"Having that natural ability will only bring you "that" far. The rest requires skills."

Assembling a slide in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Wow, thats easy, I thought.

Turns out that my best was 5 minutes.

I knew I wasn't the cut more than anybody else for it .

When the competition ended, I told myself,

This is not what I pursue. This is not what I want.

And I became what you called emo for the next few days.

Realizing I was but a slave to what I needed and not what I wanted.

I started thinking whether I made the wrong choice to go for it.

This course.

This area of study.

This life.

Juniors were posting in facebook about their wishes for their Os.

Posting who told them what.

I particularly remembered this status that I read:

XXX, make the right choices, get into the course that you like, when you're old enough to go out and work, never look for a job because of the pay, look for a job that interest you. Money will come to you only if you enjoyed what you're doing. You will be alright, stay calm okay ! ♥ -YYY

"

I made up my mind.

Had a chat with my mother. A conversation that we haven't had for a long time.

My past, my present and my future.

"Go for your interest. I won't interfere with what you want. I don't want you doing something that you don't like."

With that encouragement, I'm more confident.

With advices from VR people too, I know where I heading more than ever.

Yes, months and months of trainings, it felt wasted.

We're, disappointed.

It never pays to be pessimistic, so why not be optimistic?

Its an event that only few can participate

Its an invaluable experience that not many can get.

I know I didn't train hard enough. Hard enough to qualify. But it has already happened.

All we can do now is look forward.

Work harder for our future.

So guys, never regret your decisions. Because it is what makes you who you are.

And brothers, even though its only 1 team, I still wish the best for that team.

Hoho. This is the very first year of my secondary school life. Its also the period where I......

Dont get alarmed. In case you dunno what steady means, I dunno what it means too.
When I first heard this word, "stead", I was like, wow, new word!

Turns out this word is a short form for steady, which refers to, girlfriend/boyfriend?
It was seriously the trend of that year.

I couldn't believe it when I knew people as young as 13 years old were dating !
They get to do most of the stuffs you see couples does in the TV.
Kissing, hugging, etc.

As time goes by, you'll hear, so and so "stead" with so and so.
And, your next reaction would be, "WOH! Really?!'

It happened at the rate of like, 5 times per semester.

It started to get normal that nobody gives a damn about it, not.
Its still as hot as ever.

Learn how to play basketball!

This was also the year I started playing basketball!
Never regretted starting it.

It was the very first sport I was addicted to.
Playing everyday after school ends.
Playing during saturdays, sundays.

Rollerblading!

Tried it for the second time today....

Its an interesting recreational activity, but man, its so difficult.

I went to ecp today with friends to rollerblade again.

Ended up falling down more than 15 times from what I counted.

People tend to start out slow, a step at a time and all that.

But for me, I can't control my speed!

Once I set my foot out, my next foot pushes me even faster than the previous, making me travelling at a speed I couldn't control.

I can only stop by, yes, falling down.

Pretty epicfail.

Had a hard time trying to balance on one foot, with a a set of wheels in line, which makes it even harder.

Nevertheless, I did managed to grasp a little of skating at the last 20 mins before returning the skates.

But I still suck bad at controlling speed.

Its an interesting experience even though I fell down so many times with bruises and blisters and whatever.

I wonder when can I go skate again......

Oh the question is, who wants to go skating with me?!

This is got to be the Digital Imaging. Its a theoretically and practically useless module where I spent my time learning and doing things I've already know after touching PS within 1 week.

The break point is, I spent an entire semester from ground zero.

Before even registering this module, I was hoping that they'll teach me something that I dunno.

But I was so so wrong.

I ended up doing things that the lecturer himself didn't knew how.

How great was that?

PFT, anyways I scored an A for this module, expected.

So, lets move on.

MOST EFF-ED UP LECTURERS I'VE MET

For this, I'll have to nominate EMD and CSW.

On your left hand, you have a lecturer who despises students from your course (including yourself).

On your right hand, you have a lecturer who comes FRESHLY from secondary school, with her "rules" that only works with secondary school children.

No name-exposing and finger pointing here.

Classmates should know who I'm talking about.

Weekly, "HE"ll engage himself with the pretty girls sitting in front of him. While neglecting people out of his "ONLY-GIRLS radar range"

I mean, "he" wont even give a shit about students beyond the range.

But he'll pay special attention to disruptive behaviors surprisingly.

How "IN-TER-REST-TING" is that?

Gotta a B+, between my expected range of A and B, so.....

Moving on, you have a highly, more than qualified, DOCTOR teaching you on your right hand!

She's so qualified that she borderlines an A graded SAT student and a A graded Cambridge OH!level student.

Hm......

I wonder how many students she failed in her secondary school.

Marking standards were varied by herself.

Meaning, correct use of vocab and grammer is only correct if she uses it herself.

Can't argue much with a DOCTOR who grades you, so you have no choice but to move on.

At first this module is kinda easy, you learn that an air-con is a close loop system and a ceiling fan is an open loop system.

I hope this confuses you.

If you're still not, let me continue.

You learn how to calculate out a formula for a controlled for a system that controls the air-con you're enjoying right now.

Occasionally you'll get to enjoy graphs that will fuck with your mind.

Ouhhhhh, such nightmares.......

This module is the most difficult module I've encountered.

I was expecting myself to score badly, considering the final exam.

I ended up scoring a B, which was way way better than my expected c.

Lastly, don't ask me for the best module.

Theres no such thing such as best when you have to study.

Hm, I'll be starting on a new projcet soon, so perhaps I will share with you guys the steps I take in producing one.

Holidays spent for training.

Had a couple of cockups during the competition, especially the commissioning period.

Sensor spoil,
lousy judge, etc.

As for the afternoon part, the programming is that one that "damaged" the most.

No use crying over spilled milk now.

Lets just hope that the 6 of us can get in together.

So I can finally land myself into some vehicles and start learning driving.

Two days ago, while I was on the way home on a train, I noticed something very disturbing.

Its so disturbing that it I can't elaborate it.

Nah just kidding, not that serious.

Like I said, the train reached woodlands and 2 girls with extremely loud voices came barging in the doors.

Ther were gossiping.

But its not the content they were gossiping about.

It was their way of talking for F's sake.

Who gives a damn about what they were talking?

Nobody

But their voices were so damn damn damn loud that I wouldnt be surprised that the while cabin was listening to their conversation.

So much so, I can't help but to listen too.

Well apparently, it has come to my attention that some girls are learning how to speak like, I dunno, like how ang moh's girls are speaking.

Speaking Slang

Aw, a too difficult word to understand for you sir/mdm?

Go google it, you'll get what I mean.

For those of you sitting on your underwear watching this post, fine, I'll define it for you.

Speaking slang is a way of talking whereby words are not exactly what they were supposed to mean.

For example : Shut Up

Oh come on, its a fairly word to understand isn't it?

Asking a person to keep quiet?

Well, in the case of speaking slang, this is what it means.

The surprise or doubt indication:

"You've won the gold medal?! Shut up! How did you managed to get it?!"

This was how the girls was talking all along and its definitely not cool judging by the amount of slangs they use in a sentence.

I dont quite remember their content so I can't type out what exactly they were talking about with the slangs inside.

Its so messed up that I can hurl out a few accents they used too.

"Ohmygosh! Hes SOOOOOOOOO CUTE!"

*Note the emphasis on the "soooooooo"

*Note the emphasis on the ohmygosh, whereby they speak this 3 words in godspeed.

*Note the emphasis on the CUTE, whereby the "UTE" ends in a sharp pitch.

"WHAT!EVERRRRRRR"

*Man, do I need to explain on this one?

"You KNOOOOOOOOW"

*They just have to drag a single letter everytime don't they?

"And she was like"

"And he was like"

* For god's sake, they were using these sentence to describe EVERY SINGLE EMOTION/ACTION of the referred person.

Crap.

Totally can't believe this is the type of English they're using.

Best part, they voices were like giant speakers.

They could have just spoken normal English rather than the ones they were speaking.

I dont see how difficult it is to speak normally cause they speak quite well.

Fail.

Anyway, sacrificed 42 mins of sleep for this post, goodnight guys.

Ok lets have the usual update of what happened.

Firstly : Oh my god its yog break! Sorry but its not my break.

Secondly : Oh my god quite a few exams has been done with! Especially all labtests.

Thirdly : Oh my god I finally passed up my GEMS assignment. For god's sake the lecturer wants me to print the assignment in photo quality. Crazy. He think I'm that lame to spent close to 10 bucks to print the assignment when I can print it in school lab for just 50 cents.

Fourthly :Oh my god I went to CASS idol on friday. Really good show. Got to see the vocal talents.

Fifth : Oh my god Jeon Ji Yoong rocks! Really!

Its always about you you and you, maybe its time for me, you and blog.

To be honest, I've been having this blog for quite a few years.Trying to keep it up all these time has been quite a chore, well sometimes a pleasure.Sometimes I even wonder if I should continue to blog when I enter NS, yet alone, working.Dont worry though, stop blogging is the very last option I will choose.

It was born when I was secondary 3, with my friend during then, Darrell.It was Garry lim who helped me to construct and teach me how to blog.
This blog went through quite a few ordeals.Which bought me smiles and frowns.
Subjects and topics ranged from childish, at first, to constructive thoughts of mine in the latter.Hey at least I dare to admit it, rather than privatizing it like some people out there.
I will never privatize my blog for whatsoever reasons as long as I am still around, unless really necessary though.

True, as time goes by, things that were once entertaining and interesting are starting to bore me out.Thinking hard on the topics every week.Like a column writer.

Hohoho, this is the year of the legendary streaming exam.
You have to work your ass off this year, no matter what, unless you wanna be the cleaner.

This is the very first important life concerning exam that we are taking.

Either you get promoted to em1, stay at em2 or demote to em3

Nobody loves this system, not even your parents.

Im not kidding! Even parents were objective of this streaming, some complaining it as unnecessary stress for children at such young age.

But hey, you are living in singapore, this is singapore, you are singapore.

So we had little choice but to study.

Here comes the trend of topic,

This is a very infectious disease.

You start to see friends around you turning into nerds one by one, except a few immune ones.

I was turned into one too, but I was not as nerd as others.

Everybody started to openly compare marks, mock at each other, support each other.

If you were the better one, everyone will regard you as "the one".

While those who were the "last ones" tends to stick together like minions and wreck havoc.

After the streaming, people get separated from their friends.

This is very sad, I don't need to describe why.

After the horrendous streaming exam, primary 5 was like a year for us to take a breather.

Everybody starts playing and less studying.

Police and thief became a common sight once again during recess time.

Aw speak of recess time, this word is so damn epic.

Haven't been using is for the past 3 years.

Brings back memories.

I remember clearly, this is the year where my class was learning words like either or, neither nor.

I prefer to, I rather than.

What do you call these? I dunno, and I don't care, I only use them.

This is the year where I started picking up on my English.

In fact my entire class's English skyrocketed during that period.

No choice, cause I've got a strict English teacher.
